The Under 9 age group this season are already veteran
players having spent at least a year playing tag rugby. They are now eager to
learn the skill of tackling and other aspects of contact rugby. No doubt it
will only be a short while before they master the art of contact rugby well.
Stuart and Dustin assisted by parent helpers Mark and Matty
are really looking forward to coaching what can only be described as a great
bunch of kids, they all encourage each other. We will over the season introduce
them to new concepts and no doubt they will chase us around the pitch on the
odd occasion when we ask what they would like to do during a warm-up session.
This season we will be introducing the RFU Proficiency
Awards which are aimed at demonstrating a player can consistently complete a
pre-determined ball/movement activity. We are hoping to, by the end of the
season, be able to award all team members a RFU Proficiency Award.
We are looking forward to a series of games against other
clubs and hopefully the results will be in our favour. These matches are where
the squad are able to try out their techniques against other club teams.
Reports of future matches will be available on this site
together with details of our player of the match award. As coaches we present
this award to the player who in our eyes has been the best, not just at playing
but providing support and encouragement to the rest of the team during the
match.
