Blandford v Lytchett Minster

Second game of the season and the improvement was vast.

Lytchett travelled with a big squad so we decided to play 8-a-side. As we only had eight players, by the third match we were a little tired and the concentration started to wander. However, considering Owen had to leave early and in that third game we only had 7 players against their 8, we were real stars.

I was delighted with our individual skills, our ball handling and in particular, our defence. The areas I highlighted for improvement after the game against the older (Under 7's and 8's combined) Weymouth team, were so much better. Seldom did we run into touch, we generally ran forward and our defensive line was formed up well after each break down.

I don't really like picking out individuals as it is a team effort that produces performances like this and every player can be extremely proud of their display. The hard work we put into training is really starting to shine through and I do see some great talent

Thanks for the support on the sidelines and please do continue to commit to training and matches whenever possible, as I see a really strong side developing here.

Finally, if anyone knows of any boy or girl, in Year 2 at school, who is interested in or can be press ganged, coerced or bribed into joining our squad, I would be delighted to see them at training. If we do get a couple more players, maybe, just maybe, some of the guys can have a couple of minutes breather during the next set of matches.

Wimborne v Blandford

We played really well this game and the team effort was superp.

We got off to a great start and maintained the pressure throughout the game. Our handling and spacial awareness is really improving and it is great to see that we are keeping ourselves in the field of play now. I was particually impressed how we maintained our concentration; there was an awful lot going on, on the sidelines and many people watching, we did excellently to stay focused.

When we are playing like this, I don't think there are too many sides about, in our age group, who would cause us too many problems.

Oakmedians v Blandford

Not quite up to the very high standard of the Wimborne game however, as ever, Oakmedians had a bigger squad than us and our players had played every minute of both games, hence were tiring. That said we certainly gave as good as we got and when we had the ball in hand, we were always dangerous, we now need to work a little more on our defence and our concentration when tired.

All the game time our players are getting is serving really well and the improvement from our first game has been umbelievable. We could however do with a couple more players, so please keep your eyes and ears open for any Year 2 boy/girl who would might be interested.

Finally, well done to the parents for supporting their children so well, and being supportive to myself. I truly believe that the opportunity our children are getting, at this early age, to play against other clubs, being disciplined and good sports, will serve them well in their future life.

Dorchester v Blandford

Yet again the Under 7’s have raised our standards.

On a horrible morning, it looked like we were going to struggle against a well drilled and sizable opposition. We started with a couple of players down (thanks to Emily and Henry from the Bulldogs for helping out) and really had our backs up against a wall. However, our cavalry arrived and quickly took the game to the opposition.

Our squad is slowly growing and for the first time, we had the luxury of being able to rotate players. This was working well until Owen unfortunately picked up an injury which left us with only one replacement. Most of our players were intrigued by this new concept of substitutes and the majority (with the notable exception of Harry and Joseph) were very keen to spend time on the touchline.

On the playing front we are visibly improving each game and it is a joy to watch. We are now able to distribute the ball accurately after we have been tagged, we are running forwards more often, we are staying in the field of play and we are looking to support the ball carrier. In defence, we are now getting in a position to tag the opposition, however, on occasion we are going in to tag with the wrong hand (two hands would be better). Probably even more pleasing is the fact that we are beginning to interact and gel more as a team which, in my view will progress us even further on the pitch.

Finally, thank you to the parents for their continued support. Support to both myself and the players, it is truly appreciated.

Blandford v Weymouth

As coach for the under 8’s it is with a smile on my face I write this to say well done to every one that turned up even though I was waiting for the phone call to say it had been cancelled, due to the rain.

We started off on a wet and well soggy pitch for the first game of the season against Weymouth. We played under 7’s and under 8’s mixed, which as a coach was a bit daunting. Weymouth are a good team who have some good tactics (we have a lot to learn from the first game of the season from myself as a coach to the team as a whole). We played 4 games and the team did very well. The team work from the under 7’s & 8’s was great for the first game, with every player getting a few games in. As the coach of the under 8’s I can see stars forming and hopefully they will take their rugby career all the way to adults. The under 7’s coach was really chuffed with his team not letting the side down and as the lead coach I was pleased that not one of them was afraid and all got stuck in, even though it was raining and the ground was boggy and slippery.

Ollie “Disco Dancer” Nye was the player of the match from the under 8’s but he had great support from a great team. (Trophy to follow.)

On a personal note I would like to thank all the parents/grandparents/family members and friends of the children for helping out. You might not think it was much just tying your son or daughter's laces or making sure their tag belts were on correctly but I thank you. It was a busy game and I look forward to more games and your support in the up coming season.

Oakmedians/Wimborne v Blandford

What a great day for Blandford and Under 8’s in particular. We played Oakmedians and Wimborne.

In three games, the weather held out so we all stayed dry, I was the only one to have any injuries, the flying ants took a liking to me and I was bitten to bits on the legs.

We started off well with the ball going all over the pitch and then back again, something we will have to stop, a lot of the boys were going backwards, hopefully this will come with more practice.

Both Oakmedians and Wimborne gave us a run for our money and with some good tries from all three teams they gave us a good game.

As I have said before I don’t keep score but we did very well. The last game was the hardest game we have played so far this season, and it was a draw. We still have a lot to learn about passing and being part of a TEAM.

Alex Kley was man of the match, with his speed and good scoring and all round support of the other players; he stayed with the man with the ball right up to the line just in case it was dropped. Well done Alex

We have training next week and I’m sorry to say I will not be there, so please players help Charlotte out, I know she has just started but I will be told of any one giving her the runaround. (You have been warned Fraser). Ha ha.

Dorchester v Blandford

Again another bad start to the day, the weather was terrible, I was waiting for the phone call to tell me that the match was off but it never came. So off we went, when we got there I was worried that no players would turn up, but they did, thank you.

After a joint warm up we started playing as an 8 man team, great passing and ball control. I can see that all the training is working well, as we seemed to be able to control the ball better than last time we played. We kept scoring well but sometimes Dorchester did slip through, but again its’ a work in progress so we will get there.

Robbie was the man of the match, he worked hard and I think improved as the game went on, but still has a way to go, the rest of the lads worked very well with 'disco' Olly doing his turns and moves and Fraser learning to pass the ball around the pitch for some good team trys.

We have also had some new players join lately and all I will say is well done and keep up the good work, the more your train the better you play becomes.

Under 9's

Blandford v Weymouth

Today was a rather wet and rainy start to the U9s first match of the season. However, this did not dampen their spirits (no pun intended), as they were ready to get stuck in. Sadly, Weymouth only had five players but in the interest of good sportsmanship, three Blandford players went on their team to even the sides out.

In the first half Blandford started off the game with Elliot Frampton as the captain, it didn’t take long for Blandford to score their first try of the match and the season. At the re-start, Weymouth made good progress with their bigger players that over powered our smaller players. However, Blandford were coming to terms with having female opposition with many missed tackles to protect the female opposition (shows that rugby players at a young age are proper gentlemen!), eventually this was sorted out with the coaches informing the players that though they may girls, they were able to play rugby as good as themselves (Blandford), this made the players rather jealous that the girls were playing as good as they were and got them tackling them just as they would each other in training and the rest of the opposition. Blandford scored four more times and Weymouth managed to score two tries before the end of the first half.

After a brief drink both teams returned to the pitch, the match restarted with Weymouth, within a couple of minutes, Weymouth scored their third try of the match. Though they were trailing behind by two tries Weymouth didn’t give up and made Blandford fight for every metre they ran, but eventually Blandford scored another try and then another making the score 7 tries to 3 tries. With two more tries to go before Blandford secured an automatic victory ( 6 point difference in U9s games) all coaches agreed to mix up the teams even more giving Weymouth another chance however, the game came to a close with Blandford winning the game by well over the six point difference rule. The score at the end was 11 tries to Weymouth’s 3 tries. The Man – of – the – Match trophy went to Marcus Sculthorpe however, all players have to be congratulated for an outstanding start to the season and hope to continue this success against Lychett Minster in two weeks time which is at home; parents so I hope to see a good turn out.

Thank you to all parents and once again players congratulations and see you next week for training.

Blandford v Lytchett Minster

With the aim to continue the success from Weymouth two weeks ago, Blandford aimed to do their best and as much as possible.

The first half started with Marcus Sculthorpe as Captain. Just like two weeks ago, Blandford got off to an excellent start with Jake Solomons scoring the first try with an outstanding run from the first whistle. Lychett was able to answer this try with one of their own great runs from the restart making the score 1-1. Both teams put in some outstanding tackles during the first half. By the end of the first half the score was 5-2 to Blandford.

At the restart for the second half, Lychett seemed to be the better team recovering from the first half quicker than the home team. Lychett were able to make four brilliant breaks through our lines but sadly dropped the ball during the tackles before the line twice. However, with two tries to Lychett making the score 5-4, Blandford were put under pressure to secure the game or allow Lychett to carry on breaking through the line. In retaliation to the two quick tries by Lychett, Blandford answered with three more tries making the score 8-4. At this point both teams were worn out and just in time as the final whistle went giving Blandford another victory.

Considering it was only Lychett's first game, they played extremely well and I hope they are very proud of themselves for making Blandford work for the victory. Today's Man of the Match was captain Marcus Sculthorpe for his outstanding breaks and tackles, but note all players played to the best of their ability. I hope to see everyone who played today at training next week and then at Oakmedians the following week.

On a special note HAPPY BIRTHDAY Marcus!!

Oakmedians v Blandford

Blandford turned up at Oakmedians with a full team and two subs whilst Oakmedians had many players enabling them the ability to put fresh players on the pitch. The game started with Oakmedians starting and Oaks made good distance by continuous pick and drives from the rucks and mauls. The first try of the game went to Oaks after sustained attacks on the Blandford defensive line. Not to be outdone, Blandford went on the attack and were able to recover the point that they just lost to Oaks. By the end of the first half, Oaks were leading 3-2.

The second half started with Blandford making quick passes to their fellow team-mates to close the score to 3-3. For the rest of the second half it was ‘three steps forwards and two steps back’ for both teams, unable to score the winning try. However, in the last thirty seconds of the game, Oaks had the upper hand where they had an overlap over the Blandford players and were able to draw the defenders out whilst passing the ball out to the winger allowing Oaks to win the first match of the day.

Blandford were not disappointed with the outcome of the match as they played exceptionally well in a very tiring and hard won match.

Wimborne v Blandford

After their defeat by Oaks, Blandford wanted to leave today with another win under their belt for the season. The game started with Wimborne in possession and they were able to capitalise on a tired Blandford team and scored their first try of the game. Wimborne scored another two times before Blandford were able to get a try on the scoreboard. By the end of the first half the score was 3-1.

At the start of the second half, Blandford started but were unable to make any progress and Wimborne were able to score another two tries making the score 5-1. Blandford managed to keep their heads up high and were rewarded with another try taking the score to 5-2. In the last two minutes of play Wimborne managed to score their sixth and final try of match. The final score of the match was 6-2.

After a difficult two matches, Blandford came home with their main goal accomplished, to have fun. All coaches and parents should be very proud of our U9’s as they played at 110% of their ability and were able to walk away with their heads held high (or was it because the Oakmedians clubhouse was quite big??) from losing to the two top teams of their age group in Dorset. Today’s man of the match award went to Jake Solomons due to his outstanding tackles that stopped both teams (Oaks and Wimborne) from scoring even more tries. I would like to make special mention of young mister Tom Bradbury because he got a extremely hard tackle which most players his age would have not got back up but he was able to come back and score his first try of the season in the match against Wimborne.

Dorchester v Blandford

Though the day started wet and cold, Blandford were roaring for a good game, even if it meant getting wet and cold. Dorchester managed to put together two teams giving us the option of either playing two games or playing one of the teams in the first half and play the other team in the second half. All coaches decided to play one match playing one of the teams in the first half and play the other team in the second half.

Dorchester started the match off with blistering runs into our defensive line scoring the first try of the game after a few minutes of hard running and tackling. Blandford re-started and answered the determination of the Dorchester players with their own. After two minutes of mauling the ball along the pitch, Dorchester managed to steal the ball to allow them to score another try. Not disheartened Blandford fought back and were able to score two tries making the score 2 – 2. Just before the end of the first half, both teams were able to score once again making the score 3 – 3.

After a brief drink and team talk, Blandford lined up ready to go all-out with the second team that came on for the second half. Blandford were unable to push through the defensive line of the fresher players and turned the ball over in the tackle, this gave Dorchester the opportunity to score again making the score 3 – 4. Blandford kept their heads held high even when they kept on losing the ball to knock ons and counter rucking from Dorchester (these allowing Dorchester to score another 3 times pushing the score 3 – 7). On the restart, Blandford ran into the defensive line and formed a maul, though players were being pulled into the maul, no one noticed small Tom Badbury sneak in from the back foot and steal the ball from Dorchester and run off making a 15 metre gain before he was brought down, this allowed Blandford to score again making score 4 – 7. Dorchester and Blandford scored a try a-piece before the end of the second half, making the score 5 – 8. The Man – of – the Match trophy went to Tom Badbury for excellent mauling though he was a winger. However, all players managed to play better than they have all season and the deserved a round of applause from parents and coaches alike.

As far as I know at the moment; the Warminster game scheduled for next week has been postponed until the 7th December however this may yet change. Please can you check our website for the latest information.

Blandford v Lytchett Minster

Ideal conditions (and our slightly sloping pitch!) provided the backdrop for a wonderful display of quality rugby.

From the outset, it was clear that the team spirit was high and with so much energy and enthusiasm from everyone, the promise of a victory or two looked tantalising possible. Despite a few good striking runs we were not able to capitalise on our plentiful possession near the opposition try line and the first half ended with a clear scoreboard. The second half was a completely different story; the opposition were taken completely by surprise with a storming try from Frank in the first minute, followed up sharply in the second minute by one from Finbar, who was to go on a make a stunningly impressive hat trick before the game was over. The forwards were consistently quick to the breakdown, putting into practice their well-drilled rucking skills to great effect - we were keeping possession and recycling well, with a final score of four tries to nil, a well-deserved win.

For the second match, both teams made several changes and Lytchett came back fighting. This was to prove the closest of the three games with the lead passing to and fro to the supporter's delight. The forwards played a blinding half, holding Lytchett up with a mammoth defense on the try line for a good five minutes, at the end of which, Lytchett heaved over what had been a well-worked try. Callum S, Sam and Brandon proved to be a stirling front row combination and were winning all the scrum ball, and with tight scrum-halfing from Ewan and good passing down the line they enabled Finbar to pop a try in the corner to level the score. All credit to Jordan who stuck with Finbar like glue all the way to the line - fantastic support play! From the second half restart Sam emerged from the pack like a rocket to shrug off the opposition and score a superb try, Lytchett came back quickly with an equaliser catching our backs by surprise to level the score. Dominic then made a striking run and looked very close to the line but a thumping tackle and lack of support meant we could not make the most of his efforts. Luke and Frank worked well together on the wing throughout, and their doggedly persistent tackling prevented several Lytchett breakthroughs. Frank was rewarded for keeping his wide position with his second try of the day, to which Lytchett again came straight back with another score. Sam, the rocket wouldn't let the scores be level for much longer and again drove through for a forwards try, Lytchett equalised again. Great attacking play on both sides but both teams were tiring leading to some lacklustre tackles and sloppy binding at breakdowns. With the supporter's on their toes, it was Frank who stretched his legs to sprint down the decider for Blandford in the corner. Final score, a victory, five tries to four.

The last match was a short one, but no less exciting. Ryan, (who had proved invaluable with his strong jumping in the lineout), with the support of Andrew and the whole pack made a good deal of ground and with a super pass from Callum G, Finbar streaked for the line for his fifth try of the day. Lytchett came back once again, before Guy, (again with the help of the forwards heaving with momentous effort) scored one in the corner. Lytchett managed to equalise to finish a wonderful morning's rugby. Final score a draw, two tries all.

Dorchester v Blandford

Thanks to all for another good turn-out on what started as a very wet miserable day.

Two games were played during the morning and we were able to keep most players warm, by the use of rolling subs. Both games were lost 3 - 7 and 3 - 8, but the scores do not really reflect the good play that Blandford put in.

Star of the day was Sam who put in a number of good strong runs, with would be tacklers hanging of his legs. Every time he had the ball in hand he made good ground and was rewarded with a number of tries. Ryan, as always, showed his strength in rucks and mauls winning a number of balls from Dorchester possession. He was also able to get his name on the score sheet from some strong direct running. Callum S was another player to stand out on the day with several nifty runs that made good ground for the team.

To take something positive from the losses there were several occassions, particularly in the second game, when Blandford players were offloading from the tackle to support runners. This led to good continuity and forward progress that led to some of our scores.

On the down side Dorchester scored several of their tries direct from re-starts without a hand being laid on them as there seemed to be a lack of confidence in the tackle from Blandford.

When we were going forward Blandford showed some excellent individual and team skills, but defence let us down.

With two weeks of training ahead all players should be prepared to get their hands (and everything else) dirty at tackling practice.

Blandford v Lytchett Minster

The Blandford v Lytchett game was very close, as Blandford found out.

The game started well with us winning the toss and choosing ends and playing downhill to start. We pushed forward, but Lytchett were defending well. Then it went downhill. Lytchett broke from a maul and our backs had been dragged in. The Lytchett centre broke and we couldn’t catch him. He scored and they converted to take a 7-nil lead.

We fought back after the kick-off, gaining lots of ground when finally our outside centre, Keelan, broke through a gap and scored a try. What’s more he converted; 7-7. We kept up the pressure and Keelan, again, found another gap and avoided the desperate defence to score. He sweetly converted a wonderful try!! 14-7 to Blandford at the break. The second half was fairly even until again Lytchett gained possession in mid field and fed their left wing. I chased him down and attempted a last ditch tap tackle, but it did not slow him and he scored in the corner. Lytchett converted; 14-14.

They looked favourites to win at this point, but in the last quarter Keelan ran past all the defenders, with snake hips, and completed his hat-trick of tries. He also completed his hat-trick of conversions. We held on to beat Lytchett by 21 points to 14.

After winning only twice last season we hope to keep up the form when we play our next matches away at Okemedians with Weymouth as well. Revenge would be sweet as Weymouth beat us 28-26 in our first match earlier this season.

Lytchett Minster 10 v Blandford 10

Although Blandford were missing several players due to a paint balling party, the rugby team no doubt will have had more of the bruises the next day. This was a fierce contest with Blandford showing great spirit to come back from being ten points down at half time.

In the first half Blandford were taken a little bit by surprise by the forging runs of the Lytchett number 8 who was fast AND BIG! On two occasions he managed to break away and shake off all tackles to go over for tries. Blandford did not give up though and Eze did a mazey run from the 22 which almost resulted in a try...unfortunately the final pass to Alex was just forward.

A good start to the second half was crucial and Blandford did not disappoint. Hayden was all over the place tackling and diving on any loose ball. Phil made some storming runs and the back line put in some lovely passing (a beauty by Owen!) to create some useful space. The Lytchett no.8 effect was neutralised by much improved tackling with a crunching one by Bradley (first match!) and Ryan had good hands as always and put in some good direct runs. Through good team play Eze managed to cross the line twice to level the scores at full time.

Special mention should go to the 'new' players this season, Nick did extremely well as did Ashley and Bradley. Also to Jake who did very well playing out of position on the wing and Laurence who came on in the second half at no. 8 and really got stuck in. As far as first matches go this was a very respectable performance; it gives the coaches good encouragement but there is plenty of work to be done and there is no doubt the team will improve with each match.

Weymouth 12 v Blandford 47

The torrential rain abated just in time for the kick off at Weymouth RFC. The U13's had a good squad of 18 which later provided some subs with fresh legs at half time.

Blandford got off to an early lead with some very intelligent play by the backs, Will Newland and Ryan Smith pairing up for a superb cross pitch kick and catch with an off load to Jack Blakey who scored the try. Will and Jack scored again and Will converted to stretch the lead. The scrum produced a lovely controlled ball for the backs from the oppositions 22, they in turn passed it down the line to reach Greg who did the last bit for a lovely try.

The second half was a slightly different story; Weymouth came back fighting as the legs of our hard working forwards began to tire. Blandford defended a couple of attacks right on their line but Weymouth did manage to put in two tries with their nippy backs. All in all a good days work, the coaches were pleased with the discipline of our players and each week brings a better understanding of this complex game.

After the match nearly all the players managed to avoid the terrifying SHOWERS but well done to those who put on a shirt and tie...lets see if we can get it to 100% and make our team the 'real deal'. A 'man of the match' award was given to Haydn Shafford for last weeks fantastic tackling at Lytchett and this week the award went to Greg Price who despite some wonderful individual play by lots of people, benefited from some great team play to score the try of the match.

Next Tuesday and Sunday is training before another challenging match v Swanage and Wareham.

Swanage & Wareham 24 v Blandford 12

This was never going to be an easy match and with key players Will Newland and Jack Blakey out through injury the task was made harder still. A classic 'caught us out' try opened the scoring for Swans in the first minute when they caught the ball from the kick off and made a clear run for the first try. The Blandford tackling it has to be said was not good and it was an expensive mistake with Swans converting the try.

As Blandford settled into the game the tackling improved and some great ones were made by players who have so far this season not shone in this area. The backs moved the ball well with Graeme and Nick both having a chance to experience a bit more action at outside centre.

Some very strict refereeing made life difficult for Blandford with Swans continuously going for the quick tap and capitalising on Blandford being a bit slow to realise what was happening....a good lesson in why not to turn your back on the opposition! These made good ground for Swans and led to two more tries before half time.

In the second half Haydn came on to provide some extra 'punch' and as usual tackled furiously, as did Bradley with Phil and Harry T also putting in some crackers. Blandford still had to contend with a hugely one sided penalty count but kept at their task with some excellent powerful scrummaging and loose play. Indeed the first try for Blandford came after a great team effort, the scrum driving over the line and Sam Parkes seizing on the loose ball to touch down.

Late in the second half Eze collected a kick from Swans deep in the Blandford half and through a brilliant solo effort ran in to score between the posts. Ryan converted this one in a rather unique style, having missed the first, the ball bouncing off the post. Blandford seemed to be on top towards the end but time ran out and Swans ended up the victors in a hard fought contest.

Blandford adjourned to the club house looking every part the team in their club ties; man of the match went very deservedly to Eze for his fantastic try.

North Dorset 61 v Blandford 14

Blandford came up against a very well drilled and skillful team containing no doubt several Dorset and Wilts players.

An early try by ND showed the danger of their impressive fly half but Blandford stuck at it and competed well for the ball. At half time ND were not that far ahead but the row of subs sitting on their bench looked a bit ominous! A good scrum produced a nice ball for Blandford, Eze shipped it to Will who ran in a lovely try which he converted in fine style.

However, ND continued to clock up the score with powerful runs and were soon out of sight. Blandford to their great credit did not give up and when Will hoisted a high up and under, which the ND defence couldn't control, Ben was up quickly and dived on the loose ball to touch it down for the try. Will again converted to ensure Blandford had a respectable number of points on the scoresheet

Blandford 12 v Dorchester 24 ish!!

A freezing cold morning did not help Blandford despite an early try from the ko courtesy of Sam Parkes. Dorchester were superior in the tackle and especially the ruck producing a lot of good ball for some very good backs. The last quarter was the best period for Blandford but it was too late to get back to a close score.

Credit to BOTH sides for sticking to the job on a freezing morning....and we look forward to the return match!

Sherborne 20 v Blandford 41

Having gone a few matches without a win, this was a much needed and well deserved boost for the team. Looking very pro in their new kit and on a beautiful frosty morning we were treated to an excellent match of running rugby.

In the first half Blandford were too speedy for Sherborne despite having only 13 of our own players. Sam Parkes and Owen Meldrum had a number of excellent run ins for tries and Haydn used the hand off to great effect on many surging runs. Eze as usual nipped around the pitch and kept the scrum in order.

By half time the match looked out of sight for Sherborne but after a few clever positional changes they came back strongly in the secong half spending a good amount of time in the Blandford 22 and on several occasions were rewarded with tries. Sam Parkes managed to keep the score safe though and through a complete team effort they achieved a good win. Man of the match was Harry Stacey who impressed by being positive throughout, even from before the ko filling up the water bottles without being asked and then on the pitch with some strong running and mauling.

Well done ALL!

Training Match v Bournemouth

We played a training match of three 20 minute thirds against a Bournemouth side under floodlights at Chapel gate. Dustin Mackay scored a brace of tries and Carl Perrett scored one and kicked a couple of goals. The score was 31-28 to Bournemouth, but it was an excellent run out and team performance. Good to play under floodlights.

Lytchett U16's v Bandford

A game of two halves! Lytchett had the wind, slope and rain in their favour and took full advantage in the first half. A strong fightback in the second half, led to tries for John-Paul Flavell, Dustin Mackay and Carl Perrett (plus 2 conversions). We won the second half 24-22 but the score from the first half is better forgotten.

Training Match v Dorchester

A very strong Dorchester side were well matched against our combined U15/16 side sporting our new strip. despite getting in the opposition 22 a number of times we never managed to get across their line. A couple of breakaway tries as well as some well worked tries for Dorchester showed what a strong team they are. A good turnout of players with seventeen was very encouraging, but to get everyone a game meant that the change disrupted our continuity and a few playing out of position. All made a good account of themselves.
