In August 2008 a week long rugby summer camp was held
at the training ground by Socious Sports. The rugby summer camp was the ideal
way to expose our juniors to the latest rugby coaching techniques from the
Southern Hemisphere.
All of the coaches at the camp came from New Zealand
and the Pacific Islands; many of them have coached or played at National level,
they all share a love of the game and are keen to pass their experience and
enthusiasm on to the rugby playing youth of the UK. They were assisted by one
of our own coaches and a visiting coach from Salisbury.
All the children thoroughly enjoyed their week
and at the end gave a demonstration of the New Zealand Haka and Fijian Haka to
their parents. This can be viewed in the movie clip on the left.
On the Wednesday evening our visiting coaches
ran a session for the Blandford Junior Section coaching staff so we look
forward to some new techniques being used in the upcoming season.
On the last day a professional photographer was
present and produced a portfolio of pictures that parents could purchase on the
day. These are also available to
