Junior Section Blandford Rugby Football Club

and welcome to the official website for the Junior Section Blandford Rugby Football Club.

Blandford Forum is a Georgian market town located in the heart of rural Dorset, England. It is located on the River Stour and has a population in excess of 8,700. It is some 16 miles north west of Poole, 22 miles south west of Salisbury and 16 miles north east of Dorchester.

Blandford Rugby Club was founded in 1976. The Junior Section was first started back in the early 1990’s with just a few lads, whose dads were and in some instances still are associated with the Senior Section, but its popularity has grown and we now have children from a large catchment area around Blandford.

The Junior Section encompasses players from 6 years old upwards and is continuing to grow in strength. We believe that any child should be given the opportunity to enjoy the fun of playing rugby whilst learning other skills at the same time.

As a family focused section it is not unusual to find whole families involved in some way or other not necessarily on the pitch. If you would like to become more involved and take up coaching or just helping out in the tuck shop then please contact the chairman. The Junior Section is run entirely by volunteers and new 'recruits' are always welcome.

Training is on Sunday mornings from 1030 until 1200 on the sports pitches of the Blandford School, which are accessed via the Milldown entrance. The Main Clubhouse is located in East Street, however on most mornings the Tuck Shop is open for hot drinks. Noel is also normally busy running the shop where you can purchase items such as team shirts, socks and shorts.

If you have not played rugby before then come along and give it a go. You can try over a couple of weekends and then you must register. Registration with the RFU then entitles you to play in matches and tournaments and you are also covered by the club's insurance policy (provided by the RFU). You will also have to pay your season subscription, as a non-profit making organisation, these funds are used to provide team shirts for matches and cover any administration costs in running the club. If you have a brother or sister who is also interested there is a reduced rate for additional family members.

Please navigate around our website using the menu above or alternatively try the site map.

No DogsNo DogsPlease be aware that the playing fields form part of the Blandford School grounds. Under Local Education Authority rules dogs are NOT permitted on site. You will, however, find an area of open space called "The Milldown" across the road from the school entrance where you are more than welcome to exercise your dogs.
